The Pink Patchwork House

パッチワークの小さな家を作りました。
ゆきおシリーズのマスコット、苺のあまおうくんにピッタリの家です。

I made a small patchwork house.
It’s just the right size for Amaou-kun, the strawberry mascot from the Yukio series.

まず、小さなハギレをたくさん並べて、どれとどれを組み合わせたらいい感じかな？と選んでいきます。
今回は、ピンクの家にしたいということは決まっています。

First, I lay out lots of tiny fabric scraps and think, “Which ones would look nice together?” as I choose combinations.
This time, I already knew I wanted to make a pink house.

メインの布が決まったら、少しずつ縫い合わせていきます。
細かいことは決めていないので、少し縫って、次に使う布やパーツを考えて行く、という気分次第スタイルです(#^.^#)

Once the main fabrics are chosen, I start sewing them together little by little.
I don’t plan too much in advance— I sew a bit, then decide what fabric or parts to use next.
It’s very much a “go-with-the-mood” style. (#^.^#)

布だけでは弱いので、裏にキルト芯を一緒に縫い付けています。

Fabric alone feels a bit too soft, so I sew quilt batting onto the back for support.

家の壁の部分が出来上がりました。
白いレースを挟むと、可愛さが一気にアップしました。
見た感じ、ここをもう少し華やかにしたいな、という位置に、アップリケや刺繍、ビーズを追加していきます。
この細かい調整はワクワクの時間です💗

Now the walls of the house are finished.
Adding some white lace instantly made it cuter.
Wherever I feel “this spot could use a little something,” I add appliqués, embroidery, or beads.
This fine-tuning time is always exciting💗

刺繍はちゃんと勉強したことはないので、糸で絵を描く感覚で刺していきました。
刺繍の技術をちゃんと学んだら、もっと楽しいのだろうなぁと思います。

I’ve never properly studied embroidery, so I stitch as if I’m drawing pictures with thread.
I imagine it would be even more fun if I learned real embroidery techniques someday.

窓っぽいアップリケも付けてみました。
ちょっと曲ったような、キチッとしていない形ですが、ユッキー的にはそこが好きです♪

I also added a window-like appliqué.
It’s a little crooked and not perfectly neat, but that’s exactly what I like about it ♪

円い底を付けました。

Next, I attached a round base.

そして、これが屋根になります。
左側のは内布です。

And this piece becomes the roof.
The one on the left is the lining fabric.

本体も屋根も内布と一緒に中表に縫って、表に返しました。
あとは、このふたつをドッキングさせればOK・・・のはず。

I sewed both the main body and the roof with their linings, right sides together, then turned them inside out.
All that was left was to connect the two… or so I hoped!
