Remembering the Starry Days
ある日のこと、青い犬がのんびりお散歩していると、壁にぽっかり開いた窓から、キラリと光る星型の男の子が顔を出しているのに気がつきました。
One day, as the blue dog was taking a leisurely walk,he noticed a sparkling, star-shaped boy peeking out from a window set into a wall.
「…あれ？」青い犬は足を止めます。「なんだか君のこと、どこかで見たことがある気がするよ。」
“…Huh?” The blue dog stopped walking.
“I feel like I’ve seen you somewhere before.”
星型の男の子――スターチャイルドも、じっと青い犬を見つめ返します。
その瞳がふわりと輝いた瞬間、ふたりは同時に叫びました。
The star-shaped boy—Star Child—gazed back at the blue dog.
The moment his eyes softly began to shine, they both shouted at the same time:
「思い出した！」
「僕たち友達だったんだ！」
“I remember!”
“We were friends!”
それはこの地球ではない、遠い遠い星の世界。
そこには、夜空のように輝く草原や、星くずの滝が広がる美しい場所がありました。ふたりはその星で出会い、一緒に遊んでいたのです。
It was not this Earth, but a faraway world among the stars.
There, beautiful fields shimmered like the night sky, and waterfalls of stardust flowed endlessly.
That was the star where the two had first met and played together.
「でも、どうして君がここにいるの？」と青い犬がたずねると、スターチャイルドは少しはにかんだ笑顔を見せました。
「それはね…」
“But why are you here?” the blue dog asked.
Star Child smiled, a little shyly.“Well…”
こうしてふたりは、地球に来るまでの冒険や不思議な出来事を、夢中になって語り始めました。
その話の途中には、笑ったり、ちょっぴり切なくなったり。
でも、ひとつだけ確かなのは――ふたりがまた出会えたことが、何よりもうれしいということでした。
And so the two began excitedly sharing the adventures and mysterious events that had brought them to Earth.
At times they laughed, and at times they felt a little wistful.
But one thing was certain— they were happier than anything else simply because they had met again.
